Valentin Horst, born in 1995, joined FREY Rechtsanwälte Partnerschaft as an associated lawyer in November 2023.

He studied law in Passau, specializing in employment law.

After graduating the first state exam, Mr. Horst worked as a doctoral researcher at the University of Cologne, focussing on sports law and media law as well as for two national law firms in the area of media law and employment law. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the topic „The Role of the publisher in eSports“ for which he also won the CBH-prize for best dissertation 2022.

He completed a Masters of Laws (LL.M.) at the University of Glasgow in the academic year 2020/2021, deepening his knowledge in Intellectual Property Law and Digital Economy.

During his legal clerkship he worked as a research assistent in the field of public law („Cylaw“) with Prof. Dr. Viola Schmid LL.M. (Harvard) at TU Darmstadt and completed his stations at the Gambling Regulatory Authority and an American Corporate Law firm in their offices in Frankurt a.M. and San Fracisco.

Mr. Horst is also a lecturer at the University of Applied Management, teaching the subject „eSport“.

His working languages are German and English.
